Olivia Flegg is in her fourth year of the Bachelor of Arts Honours program in Anthropology with a minor in History at the University of Guelph. She has been active within the academic community, participating as a member of the University’s History Society throughout her undergrad. In 2017, Olivia spent a semester abroad in Paris, France where she studied European history and culture and travelled throughout various countries in Europe. Following this experience, Olivia shifted her focus from history to anthropology because she wishes to pursue the study of how historical narratives have shaped contemporary society and continue to impact people’s lives today. Olivia endeavours to expand her study of public anthropology, specifically through the lens of Indigenous issues in Canada. She is currently studying Canadian cultural identities and Indigeneity, with a focus on current issues faced by Indigenous communities, such as violence against Indigenous women.
