About Us

Our Goal

I Stand #InUnity stimulates critical thought about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in Canada (MMIW) by transforming government statistics into embodied data. The resulting visuals allow viewers at many different education levels to better understand the scale of human loss in Indigenous communities. We believe that shared understanding is the foundation of meaningful change. By both demonstrating and continuing to raise awareness about MMIW, I Stand #InUnity works for a future that acknowledges and keeps safe Indigenous women and girls. #InUnity is lead by four Indigenous women in Guelph: Brittany Luby, Cara WehkampKim Anderson, and Maria Shallard. Student organizers from the University of Guelph work to mobilize knowledge for the project. Peter Denton is the artistic consultant. Show that you stand #InUnity with #MMIW in Canada by submitting a #StatementOfAlliance to our project.
